At All Times

"I will extol (bless) the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips."  (Psalm 34:1).

One of the greatest needs as a Christian, is learning to be a praising and thankful person and not to take things for granted; but with gratitude.  The word of God is filled with the truth that we are and were created to praise, and it also encourages us to praise our Creator with energy, voicefully, and with every chance we get.  Both the Old and New Testament writers tell us that it is our duty to praise the Lord, and there are times when the Almighty Himself takes up the issue, not just to encourage our praise but also to demand it.  (Psalm 50:13-17, 22-23).

There can be no doubt to even the most casual reader of the word, that praise is as important as prayer and that without it our lives become somewhat blurry.  In this devotion, David tells us that he praised God "at all times".  Can we really be expected to praise the Lord on all occasions and at every opportunity we get?  Okay, it means most or many or almost all times.  Not so!  "I will bless the Lord at all times", says the psalmist.  "His praise will always be on my lips."

Let's follow the advice of Psalm 34:1.  Make everyday one of continued praise.  Magnify the Lord in your heart in a special way today!

PRAYER:  Father God, this day I want to be filled with overflowing, unceasing praise.  Praise that I have never given and have never known before.  In your name Jesus I pray, Amen.
