Kay's Page
Written by Brenda L. Gittens
When I decided to do my website, I wanted to dedicate a page for my big sister, Linda Kay. She was the only sister I had, and I miss her very much. *(You can see who she was on the video, "Jesus Is The Best Thing". She's on the platform with the black suit on). As you read about her, you will be blessed by her life. There's was no one like my sister, she encouraged me to do my best in singing and writing. When I sing today, I feel her spirit right there with me. Sometime people will tell me, "When you were singing, I saw Kay in you." Growing up, one of the songs that my sister would sing was "Walk Around Heaven All Day". She loved that song, and I know that's what she's doing!
Linda Kay was born in 1948 in Texas. She was the second of five children. Her parents moved to San Francisco, California in 1951 where she grew up. She was educated in the public schools of the city. She grew up in the church and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. In the 1960's she started a singing group with some of her friends called "The Revivalettes" and as a little girl, I always wanted to sing like my sister. Kay, as so many called her, was a very creative person. As a single young lady, she had the opportunity to travel to Haiti on a mission trip and it had a powerful effect on her life, and she had a heart for helping people always.
In 1971, she met her husband and they were blessed with one child. She enjoyed her career and also, when she was a retired woman she became a business woman, a designer of hats, scarfs, and purses. She also enjoyed teaching, acting, and singing, and my sister could sing! She is missed by all of her family and he life touched us all. Her personality was loving and shining, her smile was beautiful, winning, and sparkling. She had a sense of laughter that brought joy to her family, friends, and members of her church family. She was an awesome woman of God who was designed by Him alone.
In April 2006, she lost her life in a tragic car accident, but we all know that she is safe up in heaven with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, her son, her two grandsons, her parents, her three brothers, her sister me. Kay had many relatives and many friends. She will always be loved and missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
