To fight means to contend against another in battle or physical combat. A famous one took place in the Bible between a shepherd boy named David and a giant named Goliath. David knew this was to be a "different" fight and was ready for it. When Saul told him, "Don't be ridiculous! There is no way you can go against this Philistine. You are only a boy, and he has been in the army since he was a boy!" (1 Samuel 17:33), David persistently told him why and how he knew he could (1 Samuel 17:34-36) and ended it by telling Saul, "The LORD who saved me from the claws of the lion and the bear will save me from this Philistine!" Saul finally consented. "All right, go ahead," he said. "And may the LORD be with you!" (1 Samuel 17:37).
The only way David could fight in this battle, training had to be. To know and understand it, he needed to have a personal life of prayer, worship, and faith. Prayer for the bravery to face Goliath. Worship, to know it was spiritual. Faith, to believe he could win. This was his training. Simply, I'm going to say this. Before members of the armed forces go to fight on the battleground for this country, military combat training has to take place, and they go to war. Before members of the "army of the Lord" go to fight on "the battlefield” for the Lord, "spiritual combat training" has to take place, and we put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-18) and go to warfare!
PRAYER: Lord God, we're hearing in the Spirit, that You want Your people all over this world to be ready and to stay ready and trained up for the "battlefield." In addition, help us to "fight" with Your weapons. We pray and speak this word in Your name, Amen!
